Oscar-nominee Jonathan Pryce and Downton Abbey star Penelope Wilton are teaming on an ITV drama about a woman who survived a joint suicide pact with the love of her life and was subsequently arrested and charged with his murder. Mavis Eccleston is based on the real-life story of the titular character, who will be played by Wilton. Pryce is her husband, Dennis. Chris Lang (The Thief, His Wife and the Canoe) is writing and Bruce Goodison is (Doctor Foster) directing. Series 2 of the thrilling drama starring Nikki Amuka-Bird and John Simm is coming to BBC iPlayer and BBC One The BBC has announced it has acquired series two of I, Jack Wright, the six-part murder mystery written by Chris Lang (Unforgotten, Innocent, The Thief, His Wife and the Canoe). Unforgotten Season 7 went into production on November 7 - on the same day that Broadcast revealked that the series is the most watched returning drama on any UK channel. Sinéad Keenan and Sanjeev Bhaskar announced the critically-acclaimed drama Unforgotten had been recommissioned via social media in late February. Series creator and Executive Producer Chris Lang has written the seventh series. Returner Unforgotten remains on top, with Playing Nice and Protection the best of this year’s new titles As autumn rolls in with the promise of yet more drama, how have BBC1 and ITV1 faired so far this year with their 9pm offerings?
